Challenge
The first warning of any failure on-board ship is given by the alarm and monitoring system. This gives the ship’s officers all the basic information they need to maintain safe and efficient operation of the machinery and related equipment. But integrating the diverse monitoring groups, such as engine, thrusters, bilge, water, power, climate control, communications and entertainment, is a complex task. And solutions must be failure proof and operate seamlessly.

Solution
Omron has a large choice of solutions that will always connect, despite the different systems and protocols prevailing in the industry. Failure is no problem either, with Omron’s PROFINET redundant network possibilities providing back-up should one or more controllers fail. Alarm messages can be repeated and logged at touch screens or IPC installed at any ship’s station. And HMI on the bridge are of course dimmable at night.
